Biographical
Information
Professor Skiffer is originally from South Los Angeles
(formerly South Central LA) and is a veteran of the United
States Army with eight years of combined active duty and reserve
military service. She received her Associate’s degree from
Moorpark College, California, her undergraduate degree in
Sociology from the University of Colorado-Denver and her
Master’s degree in Sociology from the University of
Missouri-Columbia. Professor Skiffer is currently a doctoral
candidate at the University of Missouri-Columbia and she will
complete her Ph.D. in 2006. Professor Skiffer’s dissertation
project entitled, “Views and Perceptions of Causes of Crime: The
Case of Black Female Offenders” utilizes social attribution
theory to analyze Black women inmates perceptions of crime
causality.
Here at Cal State University Dominguez Hills, Professor
Skiffer has teaches Criminology, Sociology of Law, Deviant
Behavior, Sociology of Drug and Alcohol Use, and Gangs and
Adolescent Subcultures. Additionally, Professor Skiffer has
volunteered in the non-profit community coordinating
organization and infrastructure development for over five years.
She has provided hands-on project coordination, fund development
and grant writing services to local non-profit organizations.
