Program Description
Under the skillful leadership of Dr. Eunice Krinsky, Professor of Mathematics, CSUDH has initiated a number of pre-service and in-service projects to increase the capacity of teachers to teach math effectively in K-12 classrooms. Funding from the CSU Chancellor's Office and the California State Department of Education have provided the wherewithal to offer Summer Math Institutes for teachers and Summer Camps for students. Now in its 5th year, the Los Angeles Collaborative for Teacher Excellence (LACTE) is a $5 million project is the largest and clearly most ambitious project initiated by the CSUDH Math/Science Education Center. LACTE has involved over one hundred and ninety (190) math and science faculty from the 10-institution collaborative to develop an integrated math-science curriculum and to promote the best practices for teaching math and science in K-12. Having achieved virtually all of the goals identified, LACTE is one of the most successful projects funded by the National Science Foundation.
