Education

Charles F. Hohm is Dean of the College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences. He received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Southern California.

Background

Before joining the Dominguez Hills family, Dr. Hohm served as a faculty member and administrator at San Diego State University. He joined SDSU's Sociology Department in 1973 and served as Chair from 1985 to 1991. From 1997 to 2002, he served as Associate Dean of SDSU's Division of Undergraduate Studies where his primary responsibility was the advancement of assessment of student learning outcomes. From 2002 to 2004, he served as Associate Dean of SDSU's College of Arts and Letters where he was responsible for faculty recruitment and evaluation, program development, curriculum development and construction and management of the College's class schedule.

Accomplishments and Awards

Professor Hohm has published widely in the area of social demography and he has been very active in the California Sociological Association, the Pacific Sociological Association, and the American Sociological Association. Though Dr. Hohm is not currently teaching, he takes special pride in his role as teacher. He has been chosen as Most Influential Professor by the Outstanding Sociology graduate on two different occasions and received the Pacific Sociological Association's Distinguished Contributions to Teaching Award in 1998.
