Research Interests
I use Drosophila melanogaster (the common fruit fly) to study the genetics of oogenesis. Specifically, I am investigating what genes are involved in forming the tube that is the dorsal appendage on the Drosophila egg. Humans have many tubes in their bodies, the most notable being the neural tube, and what we learn from the fruit fly we can hopefully apply to humans.
I encourage students to participate in research and I welcome them into my lab. If you have an interest in Drosophila, Genetics or Developmental Biology and have completed BIO 314 or 340, please contact me.
