I use microarray and differential display analyses to identify and characterize developmentally regulated genes of the protozoa Leishmania spp. The focus of my lab is to identify and characterize those genes that encode for surface antigens and determine parasite virulence. The regulation of expression, the signaling pathways involved and the functions of candidate genes are being studied.
