The Computer Science Department has been given University approval to initiate a new Master of Science degree in Computer Science
. The program emphasizes computer security and will provide industrial participants and non-traditional students the flexible learning environment they require for retraining.  Course work will include a combination of classroom, laboratory and research experiences.  The goal is to provide students with the necessary analytical skills to be successful in the job market, or for pursuing advanced graduate degrees. Kenneth Ganezer has been named one of the "Hottest" Researchers for the 2004-2005 calendar year by the Thomson Scientific Hot Papers database.  An annual list, published in the March/April issue of Science Watch, placed the CSU Dominguez Hills professor of physics as sixth in the world with seven “hot” papers published in the last two years. Professor of biology Thomas Landefeld delivered the talk “Minority Scientists: Where Are They? Who Should Care?” along with “Leaks in the Pipeline: Do Faculty Mend Them or Create Them?” at Prairie View A&M, Prairie View, TX on March 27, and participated in a seminar on minorities in the sciences at Houston Community College on March 28.
